McLean County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky; its population was 9,938 in the 2000 Census.
The county was formed by act of the Kentucky legislature in 1854 from portions of surrounding Daviess, Ohio, and Muhlenberg Counties, and was named for Judge Alney McLean, founder of Greenville, the county seat of Muhlenberg County.
McLean County is part of the Western Coal Fields region of Kentucky.

The McLean County Probate Record Index was prepared as a cooperative project between the Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) System and the Lexington Genealogical and Historical Society.
The County Court also heard cases involving adoption, tax delinquency, commitment of the insane and feeble-minded, naturalization, guardianship of minor children, and conservatorship of the insane, blind and deaf and dumb.
These types of cases were often recorded in the McLean County Probate Record when the County Court was acting in its probate capacity.

McLean County prosecutor Ladd Erickson said the men had not posted bail and were still in the county jail on Thursday.
The group, in a statement, said the men were able to break a lock and enter the silo site Tuesday morning, paint the word “disarm” on the silo lid and pour some of their blood on the lid.
Minot Air Force Base officials said the men were immediately arrested by Air Force security and turned over to local law enforcement officers, who took them to the McLean County jail.
