McMaster University is a medium-sized research-intensive university located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, with an enrollment of 18,238 full-time and 3,836 part-time students (as of 2006).
McMaster's main campus is bordered to the north by Cootes Paradise, an extensive natural marshland, to the east and west by residential neighbourhoods and to its south by Main Street West, a major artery of Hamilton.
In 2004 McMaster University announced that in partnership with the neighbouring city of Burlington, it would be constructing a new arts and technology intensive campus in that city.

Each year, the plan for the current year will be addressed through the McMaster University Committee on Disability and Access (MUCDA).  This committee will have the responsibility of addressing the identified barriers, developing the plan for the removal of barriers, and determining which governing body on campus to refer to for final approval.
The University and MUCDA recognize that many more steps need to be undertaken to help McMaster become a completely barrier free environment, physically, academically, attitudinally, and socially.
