		Second LP Meat Is Murder solidified their fanbase but The Smiths were rightfully considered a singles band until 1985 tour de force Meat Is Murder.
		Meat is Murder doesn't shine as the band's greatest offering — I’d have to reserve that title for The Queen is Dead, their next LP, released in 1986.
		Meat is Murder has Marr's full bag of tricks on display, and you could argue that he never wrote an instrumental more original than "How Soon Is Now?" But Morissey was always his best when he was being clever and rude, and too often he falls into sentimental extravagance here.

		Meat is Murder was one of my first forays into indie music as a 15 year old kid in 1987 and what a great place to start.
		Released in mid 1985, Meat is Murder was the bands 2nd official release although in-between this and their first album the B-side collection Hatful of Hollow is often reffered to by fans as the bands second album.
		Overall Meat is Murder though at first weird turns out to be a great listen, it was also despite never having a UK top 40 hit their first and only number one studio album, so it should be worth buying just for that you'd think!!!!

		Wired has an interesting piece on efforts to grow meat in vitro, ridding us of the need (or alternatively, the excuse) to kill animals to eat.
		I bet this development would cause huge resistance from the meat industry unless they'd be willing to embrace it.
