Mechanical traveller - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A mechanical traveller is a moving part of a machine, typically a ring that slides between different positions on a supporting rod when the machine goes through its operating cycle.
In sailing, it is a mechanical device used to modify the location at which lines used to control sails (such as sheets) are attached to the vessel.
A traveler on a smaller craft (such as the popular single-handed "Laser" sailboat) might simply be a line attached to two points on the deck, along which another block runs.

 Orbits Travel
An orbital spaceflight is achieved when the spacecraft travels around the Earth in space at sufficient lateral velocity (or equivalently, enough angular velocity) for the centrifugal force to cancel out the pull of Earth's gravity.
This may apply to the travel itself, or the travel may just be the necessary investment to arrive at a desired location.
Travellers are enjoying their lifestyle around the world until this day.

It is probably one of the most entertaining books of travel ever written, and a veritable mine of mostly very accurate information concerning the natural phenomena, history, social life, economics, diet and morals of the places described.
In this episode, The Traveler is also shown to be capable of sensing this capacity in others as he did with Wesley Crusher.
The next appearance of The Traveler came in the episode "Remember Me", where he was instrumental in rescuing Beverly Crusher from a rapidly collapsing universe brought about by a static warp bubble.

The functional resource is the function of the mechanism by which the ring and the traveler produces the yarn by twisting the material.

If it is travelling through time fifty times or a hundred times faster than we are, if it gets through a minute which we get through a second, the impression it creates will of course be only one-fiftieth or one-hundredth of what it would make if it were not traveling in time.
But whenever the Traveller is out of the machine and exploring the new worlds of the future the story becomes as reductivist as the myth of exploration itself: civilized Europe discovers that the non-European world is inhabited by children, or monsters.
The Traveller is appalled, for he interprets this gesture as an indication that the Eloi is asking whether he dropped down from the clouds.

Oddities - Curiosities of Locomotive Design
It had the merit of acting as the designer intended it should, and one day that it was on trial, rushing along at a speed of three miles an hour, accompanied by a host of admirers, the boiler exploded, throwing hot water, pieces of iron, and disaster among the crowd.
The science of mechanical engineering was in its infancy in those days, yet one marvels how the designer of such a locomotive expected to obtain the necessary adhesion.
Worsdell is of the opinion that it is the oldest locomotive in the world that is daily under steam, for it was built in 1822 and is now regularly used as part of the motive power equipment in the collieries of Sir Lindsay Wood, who is one of the directors of the North Eastern Railway.

It is about thirty-four years ago,*- since a thoughtful man, travelling in the north of England, on commercial business, stood looking at a small train of coal wagons, impelled by steam, along a tramroad which connected the mouth of one of the collieries of that district with the wharf at which the coals were shipped.
The amount of travelling was then so limited, that this means of transportation was found abundantly sufficient for all the exigencies of the then trade of that country; in the 2* 30 RAMBLES IN THE PATH OF THE STEAM HORSE.
It was soon ascertained, that in proportion to the increased facilities afforded to trade by the Canals in England, was the increase of trade itself, until even this means of communication was actually, in many of the more commercial parts of the country, found insufficient for the transportation required.

Philadelphia, PA -- For the first time ever, using “laser tweezers,” the mechanical properties of an individual fiber in a blood clot have been determined by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

By understanding the microscopic mechanical properties of a clot and how that relates to its observed function within the circulatory system, researchers may be able to make predictions about clot physiology.
