Media Matters was forced to acknowledge in the compass of its attack, Limbaugh's remarks, far from being "baseless," were actually derived from a report that had appeared in the Associated Press.
Media Matters itself was unsure of the veracity of the AP's account, describing it tentatively as an "apparently inaccurate AP account." This did not lead it to exonerate Limbaugh, however.
Media Matters senior advisor Jamison Foser did during a July 2005 appearance, that media coverage of the Bush administration is insufficiently critical.

Rhetorica: Press-Politics Journal: Media Matters for America responds...
You toss in Media Matters with other groups that are attempting to "prove" media bias - this is a common mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.
In my opinion, MMA simply approaches it through the back door by stating that "conservatives regularly lie, deceive and misinform, and their misinformation finds its way not only into their explicitly ideological media sources." If it quacks like a duck, well, you know.
I think MMA might do a greater service for America if it abandoned the first of its basic beliefs and put its talent to work trying to come to a better understanding of how politicians communicate with the news media and why they do so in particular ways.

Media Matters for America Mobilizing Mutual and Pension Fundholders to Oppose Sinclair : SF Bay Area Indymedia
MMFA publicized a list on its website, http://www.mediamatters.org of the top 20 mutual fund providers and six pension funds that own shares in Sinclair stock, inviting anyone who may hold stock in those funds to call their fund managers and request that they be divested from any Sinclair holdings.
Hundreds of MMFA activists have used the MMFA website to determine if their mutual fund companies have Sinclair holdings and are subsequently calling to ask that their funds are divested in Sinclair holdings.

 Media
The media is allowing conservatives to use the release of the Independent Review Panel report examining CBS News' 60 Minutes Wednesday's September 8 broadcast of questionable memos to claim that the report disposed of all remaining questions that have been raised about President Bush's service in the National Guard.
Media Matters has extensively documented the substantial and uncontested evidence that Bush didn't show up for duty when he was supposed to, that he skipped a required physical for as-yet-unexplained reasons, that he was grounded from flying, and that he mysteriously received an honorable discharge anyway.
As Media Matters noted at that time, the media's focus on the memos enabled conservatives to dodge questions raised by the strong evidence indicating that strings were pulled on Bush's behalf in the National Guard; that he did not meet his service obligations; and, most importantly, that he has repeatedly lied about his service.

Donald Luskin on Media Matters for America & the Clinton Recession on NRO Financial
Media Matters for America is a new website (mediamatters.org) "dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation." It's been developed with the zillions of tax-deductible dollars that George Soros and others contributed to the leftist Center for American Progress.
The first major article posted on the Media Matters website is an attempted exposé of the often-heard conservative claim that the last economic recession began during the Clinton administration — or, in other words, that it was already underway when George W. Bush took office in 2001.
The one and only piece of evidence offered by Media Matters that’s to the contrary is that fact that the National Bureau of Economic Research set the beginning of the last recession at March 2001 — two months into the Bush administration.

They cite a study conducted by the Georgia Institute of Technology and the National Center for Atmospheric Research, which states that "[t]he number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes worldwide has nearly doubled over the past 35 years..."
MMFA is one powerful website, and unfortunately, has become the source of all wisdom for liberals (right beside Al Franken and all the jockies down at Air America.) Have fun, and remember, Media Does Matter for America, but that would make for a really not-fun satirical name!

It is another matter entirely to treat unchecked warrantless domestic spying as included in that authorization, especially where an existing statute specifies that other laws are the "exclusive means" by which electronic surveillance may be conducted and provides that even a declaration of war authorizes such spying only for a fifteen-day emergency period.
In fact, Media Matters is "dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media." We have not taken a position on whether Alito should be confirmed or on whether senators should filibuster his nomination.
As Media Matters has previously noted, a January 18 report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service (CRS) noted that the Bush administration's limited notification of Congress about the domestic surveillance program "appear[s] to be inconsistent with the law." Moreover, several Democratic lawmakers claim they were given inadequate information about the program.

DeLay has the skill and intelligence to maneuver himself politically away from ethics problems and toward the business of Congress, but he first would need an honest self-assessment that puts power in the perspective of the duties and ideals he swore to uphold.

eRiposte Media: Mainstream and Conservative Press/Media Bias Against Gore, Clintons, Liberals, Democrats, others, and ...
The right wing dominates even mainstream news and media today to a substantially (and astonishingly) higher degree than any transgressions from the left - so as a matter of priority the balance has to be reset with a focus on the right wing media barrage.
We do however think there are many individuals and groups in the media that have their own agenda - that often completely lack objectivity and honesty.
While it may be difficult to prove unambiguously that the mainstream media "bows to conservative power" (borrowing a phrase from a recent exchange between Tapped and The Daily Howler) it is hard to argue against that if one looks at the facts.
