The Medical University of Łódź was established on 1st October 2002, as a merger of two Medical Schools; the Medical Academy of Łódź (as Medical College) and the Military Medical Academy of Łódź by the Act of the Polish Parliament of 27 th July 2002.
The Medical University of Łódź maintained the excellent academic tradition from previous medical schools and faculties which had operated in Łódź since the end of 19th century.
The Medical University of Łódź is composed of 7 Faculties: Medicine, Dentistry, Military Medicine with the Division of the Medical Studies in English, Health Sciences, Physiotherapy, Nursing and Obsetrics, and Pharmacy.

 Medical University in Lodz (Poland)
In 1950, Medical Faculties were isolated from the University of Łódź and the new Medical Academy with the Division of Dentistry within the Faculty of Medicine was established.
In 1996, the new building of the Institute of Dentistry was opened in the Clinical and Teaching Centre of the Medical University in 8/10 Czechosłowacka Street (at present Pomorska Street).
Since the merger of two Medical Academies into the Medical University of Łódź in 2002, the Division has been closed down and the new Faculty of Dental Medicine has been established.

I go to the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland and I have a friend who goes to the school in Lodz; You are much better off looking for a school in the Caribbeans!
I was a student at Lodz, first set of American students there, many have left, the ones that remain are in to deep to leave now.
I've been accepted to MUL and will be starting in the Fall of 2007.

Relatives of patients with multiple sclerosis have a higher risk of developing MS than the general population, according to a study published in the current issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
Study author Krzysztof Selmaj, MD, a professor at the Medical University of Lodz, in Lodz, Poland, said "The study confirmed previous findings suggesting that asymptomatic relatives of MS patients have an increased risk of developing brain autoimmune damage than individuals of the general population."
The study to evaluate risk involved 30 relatives of patients at the Department of Neurology Medical Academy in Lodz, Poland, and the Department of Neuroscience, Scientific Institute and University Ospedale San Raffaele, in Milan, Italy.

There are plenty of computer hardware shops around in Lodz, so you shouldn't have any problems with getting a laptop.
However, computer hardware prices still tend to be quite high here, so it might be a better option for you to purchase one before you leave the States - might be cheaper, but i'm not sure about that.
