		Ethernet was originally based on the idea of computers communicating over a shared coaxial cable acting as a broadcast transmission medium.
		Ethernet originally used a shared coaxial cable (the shared medium) winding around a building or campus to every attached machine.

		MediaWiki has one flat space for attachments, so that every one has to have a different name.
		I think this is just a reflection of the fact that MediaWiki is designed for the wikimedia projects, where you have people working on a single collective project.
