Megatokyo centers around Piro, a man in his twenties who is an anime and manga fanatic; his friend Largo, a gaming enthusiast; and their adventures in a fantastical imagining of the city of Tokyo, Japan.
Megatokyo is divided into chapters, each consisting of approximately 100 pages.
Megatokyo was started as a joint project of Fred Gallagher and his friend (and later, business partner) Rodney Caston, with Caston writing the scripts and Gallagher supplying the artwork.

MegaTokyo was born out of the ashes of the Second Great Kanto Earthquake of 2025.

MegaTokyo fans will be able to re-read good times in the book whenever and wherever they want.
But whereas most comics storylines are just there to set up the gags, Megatokyo is a comic with gags worked around the storyline which to me is a really refreshing idea.

However, I recently picked up the two books, and found myself really enjoying the comic again, the first book being the comics done when megatokyo was a partnership is a reminder of why I enjoyed MT to start with.

I'm ashamed to admit it took me automatically loading the comic page and not even reading the comic before closing it to realise it lost its appeal for me. It was quite a great comic before, but it does seem to have fallen from grace.

Man I love Megatokyo I read it evey other day when a new comic comes out and I bought all three vol.(Vol.1 was reprinted and Vol.3 is coming out like in jan or feb)Plus I think am the only one who like a SGD Comics.

Reading the "MegaTokyo" archives almost seemed like viewing snapshots of a party that may have been fun if you were there at the time, but does little to interest a current reader.
Final grade: A- The public does not lie, and Megatokyo is into it's third printed volume, which came out 3rd favorite manga in February, according to Bookscan and ICv2.
Megatokyo as you can see from some of the main reviews is a hit and miss comic for many.

A lot of what you see in Megatokyo is a reaction to just how much we rely on things like games, movies, TV, comics, web access and other stuff, even to the detriment of what should be "important'" in our real-space lives.
Earlier this year, i decided to talk to Rodney about continuing with Megatokyo as a solo project, since that was what it was turning into.
This is mostly and exercise for the story itself, but the game and the story ideas behind it are unique and interesting on their own accord, and i want to develop them further.
