 Aquarius Records: Search Results for Keyword:
He's really left behind the abstract avant-improv silences of his earlier recordings for the sheer hellish miasma of grinding drone chaos (as typified by his Mego album from last year entitled "Sheer Hellish Miasma").
With an album title that sounds like it could be the name of the next Immortal record, this new release from Chicago guitar experimentalist Kevin Drumm takes the inspired-by-black-metal aesthetic of his recent Mego-label cd "Sheer Hellish Miasma" even further (what's he been doing, hanging out with Weasel Walter?).
But "Sheer Hellish Miasma", his first recording for the stalwart experimental electronic jetset label Mego, is just FUCKING LOUD!!!!

Whilst this album marks the first time the pair have worked together on a recording, AOKI has previously released four albums on Japanese labels, whilst Noriko has released albums on Mego, Sub Rosa, and Tomlab.
The work of two Japanese artists both now resident in France and both aged 28 - hence the title, the album is a beautiful marriage of sweet female vocals alongside pristine, lusciously textured and layered electronics, and some great beat programming, giving it the feeling of a classic electronic album.
This is in conjunction with the theme of the 'Don't Look Back' series and ties in with the re-release of this record on Morr Music at the start of October.

Although the label’s introduction states that they release “anything that takes their fancy”, many of its records inhabit the downtrodden marshes of vague sound frequented by the Twins in their foggy heyday.
ince it was formed by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of the legendary Cocteau Twins in 1997, Bella Union Records has quietly been releasing some of the best records of the past few years.
When, in 20 years, listeners equate Infinite Zero with corrosive post-punk and Mego with cutting edge electronic splicing, the “nighttime” album will have but one true home with Bella Union.

Mego Records is an experimental music electronic music independent record label based in Vienna, Austria.It was founded in 1994 by Ramon Bauer, Andreas Pieper and Peter Meininger, before Meininger left to be replaced by Peter Rehberg who records on the label under the name Pita.
Techno is a form of electronic music that emerged in the mid-1980s and primarily refers to a particular style developed in and around Detroit and subsequently adopted by European producers.
It should be noted, however, that he is primarily inspired not by his electronic contemporaries, but by his love of the Industrial music, Death metal, and Industrial metal of the 1980s and 90s, particularly bands like Godflesh and Napalm Death.

 NE POUR UN PETIT PAIN - Dat Politics Keep Complicated Sound Simple
I first saw Dat Politics when they performed live at a Fat Cat Records Christmas party last year in a café in fashionable east London.
Though they’re very much part of that whole international avant-noise click-glitch scene, friends with Kid 606 and the Mille Plateaux and Mego labels, Dat Politics’ music is non-improvised, accessible and immediate.
Dat Politics brilliantly contravene the European Union directive which states that all music produced in France since 1995 has to be either A: irresistibly camp filtered disco, or B: sound like the classical-synth soundtrack to an epic early 80s Italian cartoon series about mediaeval intergalactic pirates.

 * Dusted Features [ No Fun Fest 2005 ] *
Viennese laptop master and Mego Records leader, Pita (Peter Rehberg), joined with Norwegian noise maker and composer Lasse Marhaug for a massive set of sound that stopped time in its tracks.
The fest won’t be remembered for mind-blowing sets by Magik Markers or Peter Rehberg, but for the horde of merch tables in the basement, each one representing a voice behind the din, the humanity behind an inhumane scene.
At their most consuming, Rehberg and Marhaug drove punishing low frequencies into the room that sent arm hair vibrating and heart beats stuttering, while their other brittle surfaces left little room to breathe.

 Tiny Mix Tapes
In fact, at times it sounds almost identical to some of the records (in particular those of Merzbow and Russell Haswell, possibly even Massimo with its frequent rhythmic foundations) the hyper-modern Mego label, which Rehberg helps run, is releasing today.
But Peter Rehberg (or Pita, as he is better known), precocious little dumpling that he was, was off locked in his bedroom with a synth, a radio, and a tapedeck, pounding out some of the oddest tracks you’ll (likely) never hear.
Surely much madness took place in that room of his, but for better or worse, all that remains, or at least all that has been offered, is a collection of warped, probing synthesizers and grating, mechanical loops spread over 10 tracks and 19 minutes, presented here on the tiny Barcelona-based imprint Alku as Early Works.

 J U N K M E D I A :: Pita : Get Off
This is how Peter Rehberg, the man behind the moniker (as well as the always-interesting Mego Records), works his sonic subterfuge.
Excepting the shock-inducing feedback screech of "Like watching shit on a shelf" (the record's best song), Get Off doesn't beg closer examination; actually, Pita's amoebic digitalia standoffishly challenges those who would keep their distance from this sort of thing.
The compositions on Pita's fourth solo record, Get Off, first show themselves as monolithic slabs of electronic drone.
