With such expressway improvements, time required to travel through the Japanese Islands have been dramatically shortened and the expressways have played a most vital role in the nation's economy and people's life.
Expressway construction was carried out at a rate of about 150 km annually.
The expressways have reinforced concrete bridges and prestressed concrete (PC) bridges, etc. We made a detailed study of the outline of design, specifications, and other matters concerning these bridges, and found the design process of a PC-structured bridge differs from that of reinforced concrete bridges.

For instance, in the case of Meishin Expressway, as you have seen, before 1990 all the loans and borrowings were repaid.

Yet, as I started to go in that direction, I was thrown off by seeing an elevated expressway ahead of me. As I didn't remember that (surely I wouldn't have forgotten something of that sort), I began to angle in a different direction.
After a good deal of wandering, I found the river and the apartments, and, lo and behold, there was the expressway, right between the apartments and the subway station some distance away.
As I knew that the Meishin Expressway is an older road that, as far as I know, has long been elevated, I could rule out the possibility the expressway is a relatively new development and that I didn't remember it because it wasn't there.
