Melbourne may host earlier grand prix - theage.com.au
The Melbourne race has traditionally been the season opener for the F1 circus, and is usually staged in March, generally forming part of a bumper weekend in the city alongside the Moomba festival and the autumn racing carnival.
If that was to happen, the Melbourne race could be brought forward next year to as early as February 29 (with the four-day meeting beginning on Thursday, February 26).
For any race in Shanghai to take place, early construction work on the new track would need to be sped up, but it is believed that would not be too much of a problem.

AUSRACING - Racing & Breeding on the Internet
But as this year's autumn carnival draws to a close it seems racing administrators still have a long way to go to match the success of the spring.
Left at this the race could be placed on the Australian Cup meeting which would allow trainers the option of going up in distance to races like the Rosehill Guineas or to be kept around 1600m for races such as the George Ryder and Doncaster.
Whilst the race could remain at 1600m and be a stand alone race it could well revert back to the MV Oaks meeting where it was been held in years gone by, even going up in distance to 2000m.

Do's and Don'ts for Autumn Carnival Dressing
Dressing for the Autumn carnival is all about closed toe shoes (think pumps or sling backs), long sleeves, hats and gloves.
Some may say that stilettos are the only way to go, but during a day at the races you could easily walk a couple of kilometres as you go up and down the concourse meeting friends, placing bets and watching the races from the best vantage points.
While the race clubs do everything they can to minimise the chances of this happening, they can't be everywhere to clean up after people and it just isn't worth the risk.
