The Christians seem to be suffering more in their property than in their persons, and Melito is able to express a doubt whether the emperor had sanctioned the cruelties, and a belief that, when he had examined the case, he would interfere in their favour.
Melito declares that Nero and Domitian were the only emperors who had sanctioned persecutions of Christians, and probably from this passage Tertullian derived his argument that only bad emperors had persecuted the Christians.
Of spurious writings ascribed to Melito, we need only mention a commentary on the Apocalypse, the ascription to Melito apparently having been made by the fraud or ignorance of some transcriber, and not intended in the work itself, which is a compilation from various writers, some as late as the 13th cent.

 Mary's Tomb: Melito of Sardis
The narrative's manuscript tradition often includes a brief prologue, in which Melito explains that he has composed this narrative in response to an earlier narrative written by a certain Leucius.
According to Melito, this narrative was riddled with heresies, and he has composed his own narrative in order to present the truth about the end of Mary's life in an account that is free from the "lies" and "heresies" of Leucius' version.
It is worth noting that many of the earliest exemplars of this literary tradition are quite heterodox, and Melito's narrative is one of the earliest "orthodox" responses to this earlier tradition.

Melito did not escape from the falsification to which many of his more distinguished predecessors and contemporaries were victims, through the literary activity and unscrupulous religious zeal of the first three or four centuries of our era.

The indications all point to the fact that Melito was decidedly ascetic in his tendencies, and that he had a great deal in common with the spirit which gave rise to Montanism and even made Tertullian a Montanist, and yet at the same time he opposed Montanism, and is therefore spoken of slightingly by Tertullian.
It is possible, of course, that he may not have seen Melito's work, and that he may have misunderstood its title and have mistaken a work on the incarnation for one on the corporeality of God; but this is not at all likely.

In April 20 testimony to a House of Representatives Financial Services subcommittee, Thomas Melito of Congress' General Accounting Office (GAO) said the 27 countries that have to date qualified for debt relief could need as much as a combined total of $375 billion in aid to meet their growth and debt reduction targets by 2020.
Melito said he expects export growth to increase at the historical annual average of 3.1 percent, or less than half the rate projected by the financial institutions.
Melito said the GAO's $8 billion shortfall estimate for debt relief also is understated because data for four likely recipient countries -- Laos, Liberia, Somalia and Sudan -- are "unreliable." Nor does the shortfall estimate include countries' additional aid needs as a result of their economies' deterioration since qualification for debt relief, he said.

Moreover, spanning the end of Lalama's second chorus and the beginning of the third, he executes an extended fill between the snare and bass drums that feels like a series of quick, forceful shoves; however, like the other extroverted moments of his drumming, it doesn't give pause or retard the band's progress.

 Melito of Sardis
An early and one of the most forceful expressions of supersessionism is found in a sermon by Melito, bishop of Sardis in Asia Minor.
Melito, who died in approximately in 190 CE preached a sermon "Peri Pascha," or "On the Passover," which was delivered on the festival that celebrated Jesus' death and resurrection.
One scholar, Robert Wilken, characterizes a significant portion of the sermon as "commentary on Matthew 27:22" when the Jews say to Pilate, "Let him be crucified." Melito's method of interpretation is typological when he reads the Old Testament as he draws sharp contrasts between Jesus and events in Israel's history.
