The central Iranian city of Isfahan was the scene of an attack last Thursday by members of the government-backed "Friends of Hizbollah" gang of thugs led by the notorious terror-gang leader Haj Moslem on families spending their leisure time in the city's Aineh-Khaneh (House of Mirrors) Park.
People in the vicinity of the park joined the families and resisted the thugs.
Several clashes have also been reported in the past few days between government-backed gangs of thugs and young Iranians in MellatPark and Laleh Park in the capital Tehran after attempts by the thugs to harass the young.
As we were getting closer to the park, we saw many trucks and vans filled with soldiers and special force police in clubs rushing toward the park.
As we got to the corner of the park, I noticed that the Vali-Asr street going toward Tajrish was closed to the traffic.
I heard from the people leaving the park, that hundreds of soldiers and special force policemen under the direction of a higher ranking officer started attacking everyone present at the park, families and women included.
Tehran, Jun. 20 — Members of Iran’s hard-line paramilitary Bassij forces in Tehran’sMellatPark attacked yesterday evening campaigners for the front-runner in Friday’s presidential election run-off.
Eye-witnesses reported seeing a group of posterboys, wearing campaign stickers for former President Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani over their clothes, being attacked by both the Bassij and plainclothes police as they were sticking up posters of the 70-year-old cleric in the park.
Security has been tight on the streets around the park after protests erupted there last week against the elections by women and youths who urged a national boycott of the polls.
Though beef is the main dish, vegetarians also have a great choice — artichokes en marmalade, sauté de legumes du sud, and delicious thick cut chips.

From the entrance of Jamshidieh Park you will have to walk a few hundred metres up sometimes steep mountain paths and steps to get to the restaurant, so wear sensible shoes.

Along the sculpture-lined stone paths of MellatPark, a green oasis in this traffic-clogged megalopolis, much of the conversation focused on what would happen to Iran if no diplomatic solution was reached in the dispute over its decision to conduct limited nuclear enrichment.
The nuclear issue has been dominating the front pages of the scores of Iranian daily newspapers on sale at kiosks along nearby Vali Asr boulevard, which passersby stop to read, if not always buy.
