Botham Hall in the township of Mellor, about 8 miles southwest of Glossop, probably came into the possession of William de Stafford in 1380 through his marriage to its co-heiress, Margaret de Mellor, daughter of Roger de Mellor.
Robert de Tatton built their new home at Wythenshawe Hall around 1540 and it was to be the family home for fourteen generations of Tattons over the next four centuries.
The now demolished Hulme Hall at Worsley was both the one-time seat of the Prestwich Family and the residence of the Lord of the Manor of Manchester.

 Rochdale Regent TDK 322: In-service history
In November 1969, following local government reorganization, TDK 322 was transferred to South East Lancashire North East Cheshire (SELNEC) remaining at Rochdale's Mellor Street garage but taking on the fleet number 6222.
Following further reorganization in 1974, TDK 322 was transferred to the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) on the demise of SELNEC, again remaining at Mellor Street garage and retaining fleet number 6222.
On 15/9/71, after travelling a total distance of 542,352 miles since new, TDK 322 was transferred to Bury, returning to Rochdale on 29/11/71.

Taken from the book A History of Samlesbury in Hundred of Blackburn County of Lancaster by Robert Eaton (a member of the Blackburn Society of Antiquaries and the Lancashire and Cheshire Antiquarian Society).
In 1521 he was summoned to Lancaster Assizes to answer a charge of resisting and rescuing a distress levied by the King's bailiff for arrears of rent in Mellor, Eccleshill and Lower Darwen.
Sir Thomas was charged at Lancaster in 1523 with having appropriated to himself one hundred gold marks, part proceeds of his father-in-law's estate, which had been given in his charge for safety by William Plumtre, late chaplain to Sir Thomas Butler.
