  Demigod - Melodic Death Metal
Ambient metal in this definition relies on consistent percussion which often does not vary with phrase in its effort to render engaging a rhythmic expectation to which the riffing can counterpoint, giving it a space to shift melody by structural variation and techniques of internal rhythm such as tremelo picking.
Demigod vary their approach from flutterthrob melodic riffage to riffing based more on the percussive power of a chord and variants off its return, in the style of death metal open-string bashers or speed metal rockers.
Overwhelming all other characteristics through deep saturation is a core direction in death metal, with a strong concept of heavy and impactive music played well, as tight structures building into roaring images of song.

Death metal is occasionally known for abrupt tempo and time signature changes, and extremely fast and complex guitar and drumwork, although this is not always the case.
It is generally accepted that the origin of the name of the genre is the band Death, because of their band name, which was established in 1983, and was a trendsetter, the first to use many of the nuances of later death metal bands.

Melodic Death Metal wird auch oft als Göteborger Sound bezeichnet, da in dieser schwedischen Stadt diese Stilrichtung geboren wurde, und auch die wichtigsten Bands dort beheimatet sind.

Symphonic metal is a term used to describe metal music that has symphonic elements; that is, elements that sound similar to a classical symphony.
Symphonic metal is both a genre of metal and a name given to several subgenres of other metal genres, and as such, both forms of usage have slightly varying definitions.
Orchestral metal as a genre (sometimes called opera metal or plainly symphonic metal) is generally the same in the way it sounds between bands, because the genre is pretty typical of itself and the features it uses and easily depicts between itself and other genres.

Unanimated - Melodic Swedish Death Metal
The result is flowing death metal that periodically stops to bash the hell out of things; although the playing is good, and real guitar solos occur on this album, I'd say the major failing of it would be the repetition and lack of real dynamism and intricacy.
While the appeal to emotion and to the glorification of self is also present, what is mostly expressed here is a desire to make compelling music within the fusion of death metal and arching melodic lead riffing.
Instrumentation is proficient and varies in its mix between Iron Maiden meets death metal melodic riffing and jazz/progrock guitar stylings.

One of the more melodic death metal bands to expand beyond Sweden and spread their sound across the world alongside peers such as Entombed, At the Gates played a significant role in the death metal genre before breaking up in 1996, leading to the formation of the Haunted.
Conceived during the late '80s when death metal did everything it could to gain credibility as a substantial niche, Entombed instantly championed the eerie variation of brutal heavy metal, giving it credibility before quickly abandoning the style in the early '90s.
The Swedish metal sextet Soilwork formed in early 1997, fusing the country's signature ultra-heavy death metal sound with the power-groove riffs of late-'70s, early-'80s British and European metal.

However, with Reroute to Remain, Strömblad and the gang have now unexpectedly announced that they are also undoubtedly the most experimental of their brethren, and furthermore, that they have set their sights not just on broader horizons, but perhaps even complete world domination as well.
As usual, the highly melodic songwriting and Master of Puppets -era riffage In Flames is known for are intact and remain unspoiled despite the many additions.

Swedish melodic, progressive death metal band Edge of Sanity's Crimson is a unique endeavor as far as death metal, or even metal in general goes.
EOS has never been merely a 'melodic' Death band to begin with; it's just that they stressed melody and the structure of their songs had powerful hooks that grab listeners by their balls.
It's a shame they went unnoticed by many death metal fans until their masterpiece Crimson which unfortunately was written when the band members were on bad terms with each other.

This shortage of women in death metal/fl metal is not part of some sexist, misogynist, patriarchal conspiracy or a sinister plot to anger Naomi Wolf and Susan Faludi; rather, it is a reflection of the fact that many female musicians are simply interested in other areas of rock.
Nonetheless, there are some noteworthy death metal and fl metal bands that have had female members, including Lifend and Opera IX in Italy and Hypnosis in France -- and on Sirens, Greece's Astarte have an all-female lineup.
Sirens, for all its aggression and bombast, is highly melodic; Astarte have a sense of craftsmanship, and this 2003 recording isn't about brutality for the sake of brutality.
