All deer in the Mendocino National forest are officially blacktail, but the deer in the northern section, on average, are much larger in body and antler size than those found in the southern part.
Both A and B deer zones fall inside these national forest boundaries, with the A Zone being in the southern section and B Zone comprising most of the northern section.
