CHRISTMAS DAY, 1941, the Regt's first away from Australia, passed quietly in the various positions and justice was done to the good fare provided, and, as cheerful a time as possible was had by everyone in spite of the weather, mosquitoes and absence of loved ones.
About this time we learned that our MUAR RIVER FORCE had been overwhelmed and the Japs were in possession of practically the whole of the West coast of Malaya.

Thankfully, Kluang's main stream, Sungai Mengkibol, has been widened since then, thus the damage isn't as bad as it is now.
They were asked to leave their homes when waters at the river reached danger level at 10pm and overflowed its banks, causing several roads to be temporarily closed to light vehicles.

Well, if that drying Sungai Mengkibol still flows with clear and crisp water, I will still not go.
Too bad Nilai doesn’t have a river, so no place to throw drums.
