Mercer County is named for Hugh Mercer (1726-1777), a physician and general during the American Revolution.
In the county the population is spread out with 24.80% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.90% who are 65 years of age or older.

According to The Patriotism of Illinois the Sanitary Fair held in Chicago in 1865 was used as a reception for returning soldiers.
Although William was never wounded he had lifelong health problems from his service, as did most returning soldiers (more on his health and his pension on the Mercer County page).
Annie was born 1880 in Hardin County and died 1970 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

There's at least one error on the list (Greenup is not the county seat of Cumberland county - Toledo is. I've changed it accordingly.
Also, Cumberland County's death record availability looks suspicious.) The little asterik next to the dates under "Org" (which stands for the date the county was organized) means that the county suffered record loss through fire, flood or other disaster.
