  MercyMe - Music
They still struggle with some occasionally simplistic lyricism and predictable songwriting, but this is MercyMe's best album to date, establishing credibility as a rock band by invigorating their sound with more stylized arrangements.
MercyMe's new INO Records release, Coming Up to Breathe, is one of those albums.
The result is a powerful collection of songs that in some places rocks harder than MercyMe ever has during their dozen years together.

With their blunt message of the love of Jesus Christ, MercyMe is a band that has stepped out of the protective Christian box into the secular music industry where the message hasn’t necessarily been heard previously.
MercyMe presents themselves in a mellow and structured yet exhilarating way in which you’re singing along to the familiar songs before you even hit the bonus Karaoke feature on the next disc.

When a graceful single on MercyMe's nearly three-year-old album, Almost There, unexpectedly became a smash hit on the mainstream airwaves in Dallas, nobody was more surprised than the musicians themselves.
Penned by MercyMe singer Bart Millard, who was named ASCAP's 2003 Christian Music Songwriter of the Year, the song deals openly with themes of faith and the afterlife and continues to climb the charts at radio stations across the country.
It was one of those things that had been in my heart for so long but it only took about 10 minutes to write the lyrics and melody.

Bart: If there was one thing people remembered MercyMe for, I would say that the biggest thing would be that we want—we're not perfect at it—to be uncompromising in the fact that we try very hard to be Christ-centered.
