Meritaten - "Beloved of the Aten"
Regardless of the exact nature of the relationship between Meritaten and her "husband", she was granted palace quarters befitting a queen and gains prominence on the monuments just as her mother, the beloved and stunning Nefertiti, fades away completely.
It may be that Meritaten was not her father's queen, but her mother's, in which case it would have been a purely honorary role, creating a situation similiar to that of Pharaoh Hatchepsut and her daughter Neferure.
A few of Meritaten's posessions travelled as far as Thebes and the Valley of the Kings, where seals bearing her names and titles as queen were found in the entrance rubble of KV62, the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Meritaten was referred to by her nickname "Mayati" in the Amarna letters.
There is also evidence to support that Meritaten was her father's Great Royal Wife at some stage (after the displacment or death of Nefertiti).
Meritaten had a daughter, Meritaten Tasherit ("Meritaten the Younger").

 Meritaten: Royal Daughter, Royal Wife
Princess Meritaten ("Beloved of Aten") was the eldest daughter of the union between the then called Amenhotep IV and Nefertiti.
She was probably born in the palace at Waset (Thebes) but since the royal family had traditionally had many residences, she could have been born virtually anywhere-- except Akhet-Aten (Tell el-Amarna) as the new capital had not been built yet.
Although many scholars believe this child to be the daughter of Meritaten and Akhenaten, it is possible that Meritaten ta-sherit was the child of Akhenaten and one of his secondary wives, or even the child of Meritaten and her next husband, Smenkhkare (if he was indeed a he).

Do we have the mummy of Nefertiti?
If anything, the status of Nefertiti was elevated after Year 13 and that of her daughter, Meritaten, for the same reason (18), a theory that increasingly gains support.
Whatever the situation was in this department, it is quite certain that the king's eldest daughter, Princess Meritaten, was ultimately given the title of Chief Wife and even foreign rulers seem to understand she is the mistress of Akhenaten's household.
Meritaten perhaps gives birth to a little daughter, named after herself--although some have claimed the child as being that of Kiya, a lesser wife of Akhenaten.

Meritaten was the firstborn of the six daughters of Egyptian PharaohAkhenaten and his Great Royal WifeNefertiti.
Meritaten may have married her father in the full sense or in a functional sense.
They ruled together for about four years, but the year following Akhenaten's death Smenkhkare died and it is very likely that Meritaten died at that time too, for the wife of new king Tutankhaten was not her, but her younger sister Ankhesenpaaten.
