Merrimack is a town located in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.
However, it should be noted that the town limits also includes the East Merrimack Census District Place[1], which had a population of 3,784 in the 2000 census.
East Merrimack once existed independently as one of the five now anachronistic "villages" of Merrimack that make up the current town, Thornton's Ferry, Reed's Ferry, East Merrimack, Merrimack, and Souhegan Village.

Merrimack is situated between New Hampshire's two largest cities, Manchester and Nashua, the town of Merrimack is bounded on the east by the Merrimack River.
The Native Americans loved the Merrimack Valley, even so when the white men came among them they were disposed to be friendly though history tells us of skirmishes and bitterly fought contests; much of this was brought about by unjust dealings of the white men and machinations of the enemies.
In 1970, the population for Merrimack was 8,595.
