Even though the state capitol, Concord, and the states' biggest city, Manchester, are in the heart of the Merrimack Valley region there is still plenty of great fly fishing to be had.
The Merrimack River is better fished from a boat south of Concord and has a wide variety of species to target.
Other rivers such as the Souhegan, which flows from the Mass./N.H. border in New Ipswich to the Merrimack River in Merrimack, and the Contoocook in Henniker, which starts in the Monadnock Region and flows into the Merrimack as well, are just a couple of many places a fly angler can find to wet their lines.
