Merv Griffin Productions (later Merv Griffin Enterprises now Merv Griffin Entertainment) is a production outfit owned by television mogul Merv Griffin that was founded in 1964.
In 1994, Merv Griffin Enterprises was folded into Columbia TriStar Television, although Griffin himself continues to hold the copyright on these shows.
Griffin subsequently started another company, Merv Griffin Entertainment, to create new shows as well as revivals of recent franchises (such as Dance Fever, revived in 2003 for the ABC Family channel).

Griffin bought the Beverly Hilton, which sits on 8.9 acres at Beverly Hills' western border, from a partnership of Hilton Hotels Corp. and Prudential Insurance Co. of America for $100.2 million in late 1987.
Griffin, who made his early fortune as a singer and television host, created the game shows "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy." He sold his Merv Griffin Productions to Columbia Pictures in 1986 for $250 million.

Merv Griffin developed this game with his then-wife Julann in the early 1960s.
Griffin had noted the difficulty in coming up with new quiz shows, and Julann recommended a show where contestants were given the answer and had to come up with the questions.
The show, which had a year to go on its contract, was canceled by NBC in a deal with Merv Griffin, with Griffin placing a new game on NBC’s daytime schedule in its place.
