Meryta is a genus of 25 small resinous trees gound in New Caledonia, New Gunea, Solomon Island, some Polynesian Islands, Queensland and New Zealand.
Meryta sinclairii (common mane Puka - pronounced pooka as in look) is endemic to New Zealand.
In summary, Meryta sinclairii is a very tropical looking species that does not require tropical conditions.

I fail to see how a "puka" (apparently, a South American shrub or small tree [Griselinia lucida] or a small, round-headed New Zealand tree [Meryta Sinclairii]), or a type of Hawaiian shell, have anything to do with a genalogical application.
It sounds to me as if this rinky-dink firm _Wholly Genes_ [even the name of the firm is cutesy-poo and flakey, a dead giveaway] only recently hired a competent Windows Programmer.
Meryta sinclairii is obviously aimed at the US domestic market.
