Messerschmitt Me 321 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
During the preparation for a possible invasion on Britain during World War II (called Operation Sealion), the Oberkommando des Heeres (OKH) required a cargo glider that would carry about 130 equipped soldiers because it was not possible to ship all the important weapons and goods by naval vessels.
However, the Me 321 glider was ultimately so heavy that she needed to be towed by three Messerschmitt Me 110 fighters, which was a waste of much-needed combat aircraft.
Initial climb: 2.5 m/s (490 ft/min) (towed with three Me 110 airplanes)

With this motor gliders Messerschmitt took the step to motorized planes and the "S 14" would be the last glider he developed.
Messerschmitt and his engineers managed to get the plane suitable for front service, but the "Me 210" again was redesigned and renamed in 1943.
Professor Messerschmitt held the position of honorary chairman of the board of directors for MBB and took part in the projects of MBB well into his later years.

 Messerschmitt Bf-108 Taifun
Despite the later fame of the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the early years of Wilhelm (Willi) Messerschmitt's company, Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (Bavarian Aircraft Works), were far from prosperous.
Although they showed promise, tragedy (or the "Messerschmitt curse") was to strike yet again when on August 8, a few days before the rally, one of the aircraft (D-2308) crashed and killed the pilot.
In reply, Messerschmitt publicly pointed out that the only reason he did this was due to a lack of support in Germany.

Willie Messerschmitt*, the manufacturer of the great German World War II fighter plane of the same name teamed up with a car designer to make the Messerschmitt car, first with hand controls for paraplegic soldiers, then later as a regular car.
The three-wheel design was to purposefully evade taxes, as they weren't taxed as high as the four-wheel vehicles (a four-wheel version of the Messerschmitt, the Tiger, "is very fast, very rare," says Conklin, "because only 450 were made").
Indeed, the Messerschmitt can be registered as a motorcycle, if its owner chooses, and he/she wouldn't even have to wear a helmet, at least not in San Jose, where the city government so ruled.

 Hawker Hurricane
Once the battle began, these latter two aircraft quickly proved utterly inferior to the Messerschmitt Bf 109.
The primary German fighter airplane, the Messerschmitt Bf109, outclassed the Hawker fighter in speed and armament; the difference was small enough that many times the outcome depended upon individual pilot skills.
It served in this OUT until the RAF reclassified the aircraft a maintenance training airframe, number 5270M, on June 27, 1945, and transferred it to RAF Maintenance Command at Chilbolton, Hampshire, where it was used to train mechanics.
