  Messerschmitt Me 609
In 1943, the Me 309 project was cancelled and it was proposed to use two Me 309 fuselages, each with a Daimler - Benz DB603G powerplant for the Me 609 (One of the other projects was the Me 509).
The high - speed bomber variant of the Me 609 was proposed to carry a bombload of 4,400 lb, consisting of two SC 1000 bombs beneath each fuselage, but the internal armament consisted of only two 30 mm MK 108 cannons.
The circumstances obtaining in 1944, together with changing miltary requirements and the appearance of the Messerschmitt Me 262, that could take over all roles for which the Me 609 was designed caused a loss of interest in the Me 609 project and the Me 609 never progressed beyond the design stage.

Messerschmitt AG, later Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) was a famous German aircraft manufacturer, known primarily for its World War II fighter aircraft, notably the Bf 109 and Me 262.
From this point on Messerschmitt became a favourite of the Nazi party, as much for his designs as his political abilities and the factory location in southern Germany away from the "clumping" of aviation firms on the northern coast.
Messerschmitt had its share of poor designs as well; the Me 210, designed as a follow-on to the 110, was a disaster that almost led to the forced dissolution of the company.

 Me-609 proposed Twin Nazi Fighter
Messerschmitt Me 609 was a short-lived project which joined two fuselages of the Me 309 fighter prototype together to form a heavy fighter.
Messerschmitt's response was the Me 609, which would use the failed Me 309 project to form the basis of the new fighter.
The Me 609 would have joined the two Me 309 fuselages with a new center wing section into which the two inboard wheels of the landing gear would retract.

Sometimes the five engines were not enough to tow the heavy loaded Me 321 and they needed to use a 502 kg (1 100 lb) thrust rocket beneath each fuselage and two 1507 kg (3 307 lb) thrust rocket beneath the centerwing, one on each side of the central engine.
Towing the Me 321 was done with a cable which was attached to a cable which was fixed to both inner wing-fuselage intersections.
The Me 309 was intended as a replacement for the Me 109, which had no longer a superior performance in relation to the Allied fighters like the Supermarine Spitfire.

Plans for the Me 210 to replace the Bf 110 were all but abandoned by late 1941 when the Me 210 was still pronounced to be totally unsuitable for operational units.
With the 210's stability issue improved, the Me 410 was a solid performer, and through many variants, gave the Luftwaffe a formidable heavy bomber interceptor, and ground attack platform.
While the Me 410 scored a considerable amount of daytime bomber kills, it was still vulnerable to the latest single-engine Allied fighters.

Unreal Aircraft - Hybrid Aircraft - Messerschmitt Bf.109 mutations
Germany's legendary Messerschmitt Bf.109 fighter underwent numerous modifications in the course of its service, from the slightly angular early models which saw action in the Spanish Civil War, to the sleek late series, exemplified by the 109G.
The Spanish Ministerio del Aire selected the Messerschmitt Bf.109G-2 for licence production in Spain in 1942, with Germany providing 25 airframes for assembly, with pattern drawings, jigs and tools, in 1943, to be followed by power plants, airscrews and cannon armament for a further 200 aircraft.
When Professor Willy Messerschmitt and a number of German technicians arrived in Spain, further developments of the HA-1109-K followed.

The 309 was a heavy fighter, in the the category of the P-47 wich flew in June 1942, the firt prototipe was equiped with a DB-603a-1 de 44 liters and 1750hp, then in a weird regretion, the oters 4 aircraft flew with the DB-605 1475 hp, wich deteriorated the performances very much.
The 335 was very advanced for its time and they even drew up plans to turn it into a hybrid jet/prop aircraft would have been neat to know the outcome of that.
IMHO the Me 262 is the most overrate plane of WW two.
