In 1783, Sir William Herschel resolved this object into stars; and gauging it by a modification of the method which he applied to fathom the Galaxy, he concluded that his 10-foot reflector, having the power to show stars exceeding that of the eye 28.67 times, gave the profundity of this cluster of the 344th order.

Guillot and others (4) also speculate that Peg 51 B may indeed be a tidally stripped brown dwarf or other star.
One, which is known as the Salamander Scenario, (4) is that the planet existed around the star before it went supernova and somehow survived, while the other theory known as the Memnonides Scenario (5) and which seems to be more plausible, is that the planet formed after the star went supernova and became a pulsar.
Chakrabarti and Swamy (4) argue that due to the way a planetary system was formed around a pulsar, a series of planetismals should also be present.

Messier object number 24 is not a "true" deep sky object, but a huge star cloud in Milky Way, a pseudo-cluster of stars spread thousands of light years along the line of sight, perceived through a chance tunnel in the interstellar dust.
These clear windows through the Galaxy have great significance in the study of galactic structure, since they make it possible to study otherwise hidden, distant regions.
Many catalogs give the Messier number to this object, despite Messier's magnitude (4.5--4.6), diameter (1.5 degrees), and his description as a "large nebulosity in which there are many stars of different magnitudes," which matches well with the cloud and not the cluster.

Globular cluster M4 was discovered by De Chéseaux in 1745-46 and listed by him as No. 19, and included in Lacaille's catalog as Lacaille I.9.
Charles Messier cataloged it on May 8, 1764 and was the first to resolve it into a "cluster of very small [faint] stars;" this is the only globular cluster he could resolve with his moderate instruments, and thus the first globular cluster ever to be resolved.
Only about 20 years later, William Herschel was able to resolve all Messier globulars with his large telescopes.
