		Metalcore is a genre that has been around since the eighties but not totally popularized until the mid 90's with bands such as Unearth, the modern forerunners in the genre.
		Metalcore is a genre crossbreed of heavy metal and hardcore that claims to be better than its nu-metal predecessors, which in some ways is true.
		Metalcore has its ups, however; most metalcore bands are at least twice as talented as their nu-metal counterparts (instrumentally) and lacks the annoying rap aspect of said music.

		With metalcores rehashed (Iron Maiden, Slayer) thrash riffs as crossover, and melodic death metal pop/nu metal songwriting, it's no suprise that there is a resurgence/changing of the guard of "metal"..
		As far as I'm concerned, if all metalcore has to offer is melodic, rehashed Iron Maiden, Slayer, At The Gates riffs, I will simply listen to the purveyors of the thrash scene in underground extreme metal, not the metalcore trend trying to imatate thrash bands.
		Metalcore bands simply add thrash riffs to thier arsenal and sell it as something "new" and "progressive" when in fact is NOT new and progressive.

		Metalcore is obviously metal influenced and because they're of this there is more complexity in the writings of guitar, more noted riffs added to it than hardcore has.
		Metalcore was a lot better a couple years ago before more and more band's started learning that you can tune into drop-C, use only thin picks, and get a drummer who knows his double bass to become a metalcore band.
		They are one of the most influential metalcore bands of all time and rightly deserve it.

		I'm not bashing metalcore, in fact I love it (it's just that I think all these subgenres are pretty stupid) since everyone says that most of the bands I like were metalcore.
		There are a lot of tunings you can use (to write your own metalcore songs, but if your doing a cover I suggest you just tune down exactly like the song suggest, so you get the closest as possible to the wanted sound).
		Aye that's true, but also consider that metalcore has ripped off At The Gates' "Slaughter of the Soul" album to such an extent that people I know are calling them metalcore (obviously without hearing such albums as "With Fear I Kiss The Burning Darkness" or "The Red in the Sky is Ours".

		That's why attending this metalcore show in Freeport made me uneasy, because I felt like I was in charge of the detention room again.
		It is definitely what I call the standard metalcore sound, with a lot of influences from melodic Swedish death metal bands mixed with choppy breakdowns, but they play with a lot of fire and intensity.
		Once again, what I heard was a band that had plenty of energy and musicianship, but trapped in the metalcore style with few distinctive characteristics.

		Didn't the As I Lay Dying singer already make the dead metalcore statement a while back, he said something along the lines of how now bands who want to survive are going to need to do something extra special to remain significant.
		If metalcore truly is a corpse of a sub-genre, its only because As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage killed it.
		Both of their most recent CDs are absolutely abysmal (Shadows Are Security and As Daylight Dies, respectively), and in an even more horrifying twist, they've managed to water-down their sound enough to pave a path for way worse bands (It Dies Today and Bullet For My Valentine come instantly to mind) to gain national exposure.

		Early work from Avenged Sevenfold is good metalcore, but their new stuff (although more hard rock now) is way better IMO.
		How In Flames is "metalcore" i'll never know.Obviously they changed their sound but........hell,not to that extent.
		Strangely enough it seems as if Melodic Death and Metalcore are seen as the same thing for some or other reason.Well personally i like Heaven Shall Burn and Unearth.

		They sounded very metalcore in a number of ways, especially the vocals, but the guitars were distinctively more heavy metal with good riffage and stops punctuated by higher pitched notes/squeals similar to old Machine Head or Pantera.
		In their defense it might be partially due to the fact that there were three metalcore acts on the bill as well as me being unfamiliar with their material.
		They played a decent set of metalcore however and they did stand out a little with their drummer who sang the alternating clean vocals on several songs.

		You have to admit that it's not as dumb as hair metal or the white trash stuff that was cool in 1998 because it calls for developed chops.
		The thing that holds it back from being a lasting movement is that it has that singsong death metal aesthetic a little bit; you always go back to hitting one note, then cramming "holes of silence" in there and letting loose with a "WOAIA WHOAI OA AAWI" vocal.
		Now metalcore is just the opposite, with great riffing and good solos, but it's all the same.
