	Metelen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Metelen is a municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
		It is located on the river Vechte in the district of Steinfurt.
		Metelen ist known for its birds park (Vogelpark) and, as the whole Münsterland region as a great cycling area.

	Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen Kreiswappen) - METELEN
		Metelen developed around the Convent founded in 889 by King Arnulf.
		The oldest seal of the village dates from 1631 and showed an orb, with the text Arnulphus Caesar, referring to King Arnulf, and a letter M. The convent also had imperial freedom, which could also be symbolised by the orb.
		In 1939 it was proposed to adopt arms based on the old arms of the medieval Lords of Metelen, but the council never adopted these arms (image above).
