Linkin Park - Meteora : album review
Instead of satisfying the unreasonable expectations of many critics, who accuse them of duplicating their money-generating sound, they just did their own thing.
Meteora has all the fundamental elements that appeal to teens: rap, metal, screaming, loud guitars, a DJ, more screaming.
They better be careful and evolve on their next album - they risk becoming obscured by all the mini Linkins practicing in their parents' garages after school, and turning into just another nu-metal band who enjoyed a couple of glory days.

Meteora will only amplify those complaints, but this album is actually truer to the band’s nature.
This album is a lot less fluid and rap influenced than "Hybrid Theory." "Meteora" is denser, with more real singing and there sure is a lot more yelling.
The hit song from this album became and for good reason, 'Somewhere I Belong', it shows Linkin Park at their full potential with gritty lyrics and a delivery that is amazing.

Musicians have their entire lives to pen their debut album, the theory goes, and a relatively short time to follow it up.
Meteora is a group of six monasteries perched atop rock pinnacles rising 1500 feet above the plains of central Greece.
But Meteora is different in the sense that we're dealing with more facets of the human condition." "It's still a very dark album, but there's definitely more optimism," says Bennington.

The first album, Hybrid Theory, was extremely successful and catapulted the band into the spotlight of popular music mainstream, fresh on the heals of other nu-metal bands, Korn, Deftones, and Limp Bizkit.
The album went on to reach multi-platinum status, selling over 14-million copies to date, and was the top selling album in the United States and New Zealand in 2001.
When the album was released, it debuted at Number 1 in the United States and United Kingdom charts.

Linkin Park expands its universe with 'Meteora' / Album builds on band's trademark sound
Sophomore albums are tricky propositions: If a band sticks to its breakthrough sound, it might be dismissed as a one-note wonder; if it branches out, it runs the risk of alienating its fans.
With "Meteora," Linkin Park wants to have it both ways, and no wonder: There's a lot riding on the Southern California band's much-anticipated follow- up to "Hybrid Theory," the top-selling album of 2001.
"Meteora" sounds like its predecessor's older sibling, propelled by minimalist rapped verses that still slam into huge choruses and lyrics that continue to vent universal frustration -- but with strings, piano and flute adding melodic texture and a hint of new sophistication.

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on Linkin Park - Meteora - CD/DVD 2 Pack at Epinions.com
I’ve already written a review on the CD portion of Meteora which you can find here, but since this is a two piece set, I’m going to review the video first, and I’ll copy and paste the important sections of the album review here as well.
Personally, I think recording an album would be fun (that is, if I had the voice), but I just don’t think I could handle the pressure and stress that would come along with it.
My favorites parts of the video were when the guys were recording/producing the album, the photo shoot in the spooky, run-down hotel which was supposedly “haunted,” and seeing where the band came up with the name, “Meteora.” For any of you wondering, “Meteora” is actually a monastery which sits upon a high mountain in Greece.

Meteora - Linkin Park - Review - Liking Linking
The Meteora album is a big step from Reanimation and in my opinion has a lot more class.
The Meteora album has a lot of features separate from the tracks themselves, the CD I have access to has features such as “the art of Meteora” which basically is the making of/ steps that lead up to the album.
I would recommend the album to whoever may be interested in purchasing it, Every track I believe is consistent but I feel there is not enough tracks on the album.

Into Liquid Sky - Music Reviews
Meteora is Linkin Park's latest release, and some say it's the true sequel to their debut album, not counting 2002's "re-imagining" of their first album.
The album intros into Don't Stay, a hard rocking anthem with a sprinkling of scratching and layered beats to make it just a little hipper than the other rock songs on the radio.
There's a little more variety on this album than past efforts, and that might make them more accessible to new fans, but there's plenty on here for old fans to love.

Meteora - Linkin Park - Music Reviews
Perhaps if the cut-'n'-paste remix record Reanimation hadn't appeared as a stopgap measure in the summer of 2002, Linkin Park's second record, Meteora, would merely have been seen as a continuation of their 2000 debut, Hybrid Theory, instead of a retreat to familiar ground.
Since this is only their second go-round, this is hardly a fatal flaw, but the similarity of Meteora to Hybrid Theory does not only raise the question of where do they go from here, but whether there is a place for them to go at all.
The regurgitation of stock life-is-hard tropes by millionaires is off-putting enough in the hands of less-accomplished nu-metalers; coming from a group whose debut offered a glimmer of hope for the expansion of the genre's boundaries, such creative laziness is all the more disappointing.

The Heights - LP gives a Meteora shower of rap/rock
After the monstrous success of Hybrid Theory, their debut album that seemed like it would never leave the top rankings of the billboard charts, the pressure mounted on these California boys to come out with something that would live up to the hype and high expectations they inspired in their fans.
When listening to Meteora for the first time it becomes painfully obvious that LP is not going to step aside for anyone.
Then there are the songs on Meteora where all the elements come together to create superb songs like "Somewhere I Belong," the first single, and "Don't Stay," the album's first song and the one most like the songs on Hybrid Theory.

Linkin Park's Meteora gets 3 stars!
The album in its entirety is very short (less than 40 Minutes) either to streamline their sound, or to add more extras onto the enhanced CD...
The album on the whole only really suffers when compared to Hybrid Theory, which doesn't mean it's a worse album, it means that it sounds like more parts of the same album.

I adored the album back in the days, and though I know today that there is a lot more out there that is a lot better, I like to listen to it every now and then again.
I used to love Linkin Park (I was looking forward to Meteora, but decided to forget it when I heard the direction LP was going), but I've moved on to other things.
I think Meteora was a good album, but like you guys said, it wasnt too different from Hybrid Theory outside of "Breaking the Habit." I think much like HT it has very few bad parts.

Paly Voice: Meteora crashes and burns
The latter truly was a musical phenomenon — for those who've lived the past few years in a cave on Mars, it masterfully utilized a winning blueprint of hard-rocking guitars, tight and catchy hooks, adolescent angst, and two commanding vocalists, singer Chester Bennington and MC Mike Shinoda.
Meteora is truly about as similar a follow-up to the debut as this reviewer has ever heard, right down to the token synthesized instrumental track preceding the album's closer.
For a band releasing a new album every nine months, this is excusable, yet Meteora has been in development for three years now.

Linkin Park - Meteora | Album Review @ Music-Critic.com : the source for music reviews, interviews, articles, and news ...
Since the extraordinary success of their debut album Hybrid Theory, released three years ago, rock group Linkin Park have found themselves on the receiving end of some harsh criticism from certain sections of the music press.
The musical soundscapes created for this album are more rhythmically-varied and evocative, songs such as ‘Nobody’s Listening’ allowing for interesting tensions to emerge as the aggressive vocal and chilled Eastern-style backing pull in different directions.
Meteora is not a subtle record, by any stretch of the imagination.
