Metlink brand cleans up public transport's image - Creative & Media
Mr Cornwell said Metlink was born from the desperate need to get the private systems to talk to one another as well as to convert about 80,000 signs around Melbourne.
Adding to the complexity was the fact it is one of the few systems in the world that incorporates three types of travel - train, tram and bus - with a ferry system for the Docklands on the way.
The true worth of Metlink may not be known for years, and its effectiveness is bound to be clouded by the imminent overhaul of the electronic ticketing system.

Metlink - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Metlink is the marketing name of the public transport network of Melbourne, Australia.
As well as re-branding the network, the Metlink initiative was introduced to better integrate the three modes of transport, and to provide commuters with more information about connecting services.
During the re-privatization of Melbourne's Public Transport system in April, 2004, the Metlink brand was applied to a new company whose role is to cover several minor functions previously performed by the State Government and the Franchise operators.

Metlink - TheBestLinks.com - Australia, Automobile, April, Bus, ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-05)
Since being introduced in 2003, railway stations, tram and bus stops around the city have started to receive new Metlink-branded signage, which replaces the inconsistent signage of the various (some now defunct) transport operators.
Many communters would argue that consistent signage and information is of a lower importance than other problems facing Melbournes's public transport networks; such as safety (including poorly-lit railway stations and the lack of a consistent staff presence), increased service frequency, and expansion of the rail and bus networks to serve the newer, car-choked outer suburbs.
However, this is not an exclusive arrangement, as a separate set of TV ads were produced by Connex (featuring Sheena Easton and a trainload of passengers singing her 1981 hit "Nine to Five") during April and May 2004.

1.2 In 1998 a study of the relative merits of DEVG and EDR (for the ICAO Metlink Study Group) concluded that the two variables were highly correlated and both of considerable merit in the identification and reporting of turbulent episodes.
EDR could be reported as a mean or peak value and on the assumption that it could be employed directly in numerical models under development for operational use EDR was recommended as the preferred turbulence metric for reporting in the air reports specified for the ICAO Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS) programme.
Understanding the effects of varying these parameters is crucial in determining the uncertainty of measurement and the representativeness in time and space of the EDR estimate.
