The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC, pronounced "mack") is a college athletic conference which operates in the northeastern United States.
The conference was founded in 1980 by six charter members: the U.S. Military Academy, Fairfield University, Fordham University, Iona College, Manhattan College and Saint Peter’s College.
At that time, the hockey league split from the MAAC and changed its name to Atlantic Hockey.

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference existed before then, but an NCAA regulation that forced all Division 1 institutions to participate at Division 1 in all sports compelled the MAAC to form a hockey conference.
The 1998-99 season was the first for MAAC hockey, but important news emerged during the second season with the NCAA announcement that the MAAC would receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament starting with the 2001 tournament.
On June 30, 2003 the decision was made by the nine remaining schools to break with the MAAC and form a new hockey conference, the Atlantic Hockey Association.

Daniel Riverso, a junior on the Rider University soccer team, was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for all games played the week of October 24-30.
