		The Orange Line, a bus rapid transit system that runs from Warner Center/Woodland Hills to the North Hollywood Red Line station, was opened to the public on October 29, 2005.
		It is claimed that bicycle travel in Los Angeles has become increasingly popular since the "bike boom" of the 1970s -- a period of time in which Los Angeles city and county authorities began painting bicycle lanes alongside the traffic lanes of major thoroughfares, and creating bicycle-only bike paths in others.
		Bicycles are allowed on the Metrolink commuter rail system which connects the core of the city to the suburbs.

		Metro has received no approval for its planning efforts, and by late summer of 2004, it is clear that the WMATA Board has been reduced to begging for just enough funds to offset system depreciation and gridlock over the next six years.

		Metro was built to meet the vision of a different era, when people traveled according to uniform commuting schedules from "bedroom communities" in the suburbs to work in the downtown core and then home again.

		Seattle Metro’s GM-Allison diesel parallel-hybrid buses are falling far short of the promised fuel savings of 40%—in some cases, delivering worse mileage than the older (and dirtier) dual-mode Breda buses they replaced, according to a report in the Seattle Post Intelligencer.
		The hybrids, according to Metro, are also savings about $3 million a year in maintenance, are quieter than regular diesels and are faster than the old Bredas on hills and the highway.
		The bottom line on the hybrid tax credits: the IRS has yet to publish official rates for individual vehicles, although good estimates are available.

	River loop ride on the Rio Hondo, Los Angeles River and San Gabriel Rivers
		The bike path can be picked up from the east (off of Peck Road) or the west side (from Live Oak) of the park.

		This past weekend Shilpa and I agreed to move to a new apartent in the (only slightly yuppy) neighborhood of Ballston in Arlington.
		We are taking over the lease on a 2br/2bath apartment in Richmond Square, a building within walking distance of the metro (Ballston - on the orange line), the IHOP, and the Ballston Mall.
		Virginia Beach recently built a three-mile concrete boardwalk and bicycle path along its main strand, and its lined with stores, restaurants, ice cream stands, and amusement rides.
