My only recommendation from a public safety standpoint is that the use of common sense, crime prevention rules apply anywhere especially in the case of the Metro System which transports a large majority of the 20 million inhabitants of Mexico City on a daily basis.
Metro users who must report on time for work, school or other important appointments will push their way past you (sometimes in a rough manner) and the experience may not be pleasant.
However, the rides are safe and enjoyable if you use the Metro on weekends and when it's not the rush hour during the week.

Felix Matos Rodriguez suggested that events such as the Battle of Puebla and the French occupation of Mexico be taught by connecting the historical events to current affairs.

We saw what we thought were secret service men get orders and then scatter in groups of 2´s through the Zocalo and the army drop off 2 groups of Honor Guard who then marched through the Zocalo and filed into the National Palace.
We decided to head back to Puebla and catch it on the News if it was that exciting.

Also, I think we should meet at 7:45 or so at a bus station (personally, I'd prefer Tacubaya, but I think we should adapt to which is closer to the guys that don't have a car, except Tapo, sorry to be discriminating, but I don't feel safe leaving my car there).
The 7:45 meeting time is because the Metro stations open around 7:00am, and they have to get to the station.
