Mewar is a region of south-central Rajasthan state in western India.
The northern part of Mewar is a gently sloping plain, drained by the Banas River and its tributaries, which empty northwest into the Chambal River, a tributary of the Yamuna River.
The history of Mewar of the past 1200 years is essentially the history of the dynasty and state founded by Bappa Rawal.
