Meycauayan is a municipality in the province of Bulacan in the Philippines.
The town was named Meycauayan from the Tagalog "may kawayan" ("there is bamboo") in reference to the presence of large groves of bamboo around the town.
During the Spanish colonization in the Philippines, Meycauayan was famous for its adobe rocks which were used for building stone houses and fortifications.

The City of Meycauayan or Meycauayan is a 4th class urban city in the province of Bulacan, Philippines.
On March 5, 2001, the municipality was declared as a component city by virtue of Republic Act 9021, but its conversion was rejected by the voting people of Meycauayan in a plebiscite.
In 2005, the municipal hall was moved from Barangay Poblacion to a newer structure in Barangay Camalig.

MEYCAUAYAN, Bulacan - Vice-President Noli de Castro is no longer welcome in Bulacan as members of the militant urban poor organizations declared him "persona non grata" in a protest rally on Tuesday.
They said that the projects is riddled with anomalies from the signing of the contract with the Chinese government, to the awarding of the contract to China National Machinery and Equipment Group, to the relocation of squatters and to the development of settlement sites.
The militant groups also alleged that the settlement sites along the stretch from Meycauayan to Malolos City are "overpriced" and disadvantageous to the urban poor.

The major concrete and earthen river dikes were located along the rivers of Meycauayan, Panghulo, Palasan, Polo, Tullahan, Dampalit and Longos and buffering low lying areas of the three localities from being flooded.
