 MiG-3
The first successful MiG design was the MiG-1, a high altitude interceptor powered by a Mikulin V-12 engine that developed 1350 horsepower.
This sleek, low wing, cantilever monoplane was armed with 1-12.7mm (.50 caliber) machine gun and 2-7.62mm (.30 caliber) machine guns, all mounted in the nose and synchronized to fire through the propeller arc.
These upgrades in firepower gave the MiG approximate parity with the Bf 109F, which carried a 20mm cannon and two 8mm machine guns in its nose, and made the MiG-3 more useful in the ground attack role.

The fuse in the kit is kind of square in appearance and I really wanted the MiG to look right, so I took my time to round off the corners of the fuse and do quite a bit of shaping.
One of the nice things about the MiG kit is that you have a lot of flexibility in terms of how you want to set it up (there are no cutouts for the gear in the fuse).

MIG 3 from SkyUnlimited Productions - Reviewed at FSimCafe.com
SkyUnlimited has brought the MIG 3 to our desktops and for the price of $14.99 you can add this wonderful little airplane to your hanger.
The MIG 3 has had little fan fare, mostly known for its use during WW2, this airplane is a lot of fun to fly as it is fast and highly maneuverable, and you will find yourself taking a journey through time when you climb into the cockpit.
The exterior of the plane is nicely done, if you have ever had the chance to see a Mig 3, in either the simulation world or the real world for that matter, they are not very exciting looking, but where they lose in looks they make up for in performance and maneuverability.

It would be the least prominent of the family and have a relatively short life in Soviet service, though the Chinese would prove very enthusiastic about the type and continue to build it as the "J-6" for much longer.
In the mid-1950s, the Mikoyan OKB began work on an air-launched standoff cruise missile, the "Kh-20 (NATO AS-3 Kangaroo)" that was based on the MiG-19.
There are also tales of Chinese J-6s flying combat missions during infrequent border squabbles with the Soviets, though with no records of dogfights, and encounters during the Vietnam War with US aircraft that strayed into Chinese airspace.
