Completed in 1988 at a cost of $52.5 million, the arena seats 16,640 for basketball, 14,696 for ice hockey and arena football, between 5,723 and 16,508 for end-stage concerts, between 6,351 and 9,120 for half-house concerts, 6,380 for amphitheatre concerts, 3,642 for theater concerts, 500 for banquets and has 26 luxury suites.
The arena has been the home of the Miami Heat from 1988-1999, the Florida Panthers from 1993-1999, the University of Miami basketball teams from 1988-2003, the Miami Hooters of the Arena Football League from 1993-1995 and the Miami Morays indoor football team since 2005.
