The consolidation of the New River Plateau Railway Company with the Norfolk and Western Railroad Company was effected October 16, 1889, under authority of the act of the Assembly of Virginia, incorporating the New River Plateau Railway Company, approved March 2, 1888.
By reason of the foreclosure of mortgages upon its railway, it was sold in May, 1887, companies incorporated under the laws of the five States above named, respectively, bought from the purchasers the portions in their respective States.

The railroad serves the copper mining region of southeastern Arizona, the agricultural Gila River Valley and the east end of the Phoenix metroplex.

 Cincinnati, Lebanon and Northern Railroad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The company originated with the Miami Valley Narrow Gauge Railway Company, which was incorporated on November 7, 1874, and shortened its name to the Miami Valley Railway on October 16, 1876.
The Miami Valley road planned a narrow gauge line from Xenia to Cincinnati via Waynesville, Lebanon, Mason, and Sharonville with a three foot (914 mm) gauge.
In 1985, the Indiana and Ohio Railway purchased the track from Mason to Hageman to Middletown from Conrail, and from that year operated an excursion train from Mason to Monroe and later from Mason to Lebanon.

Considering the history of anti-globablization protests it makes sense that the cops did everything they thought they neeeded to to ensure that the citizens of miami and their property were protected.

The trail connects to the Little Miami Scenic Trail via the Simon Kenton Trail Phase IV completed in 2005 to downtown Springfield.
When the last 3 or so miles South from downtown Springfield to the Little Miami Scenic Trail at I-70 are completed as a separate trail then the trail will be a dedicated off road multi-use trail.

The railway and property of this company were sold on June 29, 1898, under foreclosure of the mortgage dated September 1, 1870, and was reorganized by the purchasers August 1, 1898, under the name of Cincinnati and Muskingum Valley Railroad Company.
On June 7, 1889, the Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and Indianapolis Railway Company, the Indianapolis and St. Louis Railway Company and the Cincinnati, Indianapolis, St. Louis and Chicago Railway Company filed their certificate of consolidation in the office of the Secretary of State of Ohio, which consolidation had been entered into in March previous.
Louis, Kansas City and Northern Railway Company was incorporated in Missouri, and on October 25, 1879, was consolidated with the Wabash Railway Company forming the Wabash, St. Louis and Pacific Railway Company.

 Miscellaneous Railroads Through Warren County
Railway officials had to obtain permission from farmers to relay track along the former right of way east of the river between Franklin and Miamisburg.
The Miami Valley Railroad was organized about 1876 for the purpose of building a narrow gauge railroad from Jeffersonville, Fayette County, to Cincinnati, through Kingman (Clinton County), Harveysburg, Waynesville and Lebanon, Ohio.
The Cincinnati Northern Railway Company, in 1879, purchased at judicial sale, the uncompleted roadbed and right-of-way of the Miami Valley Narrow Gauge Railroad Company from Cincinnati to Waynesville, for $61,000, and constructed the first narrow, or three-foot gauge railroad in Warren County.

 HVRIC - Wellston & Jackson Belt Ry
The WandJB was incorporated on January 22, 1895 and was built by the Columbus, Hocking Valley and Toledo, the last named company owning all capital and bonds.
In 1903, it leased the ten cars of the Wellston and Jackson Belt Railway, the line of which it had been operating since 1900.
The Great Miami and Scioto Railway operates a small portion of the WandJB around Jackson, but the rest has been allowed to return to nature.

 Chasing The Old Hocking Valley Railway
I recently had the pleasure of following or chasing the old Hocking Valley Railway with a friend who worked the HV when it was a part of the CandO.
A gas pipeline passes thru it and the tunnel is a maintenence road for the pipeline.
The last stop was Nelsonville where we checked out the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway and its collection of cabooses and cars.

The resulting sub-assembly is very flexible when you need it to be, and very strong when you need it to be, as Bill Logan demonstrated with an HDPE assembly at a Miami Valley Garden Railway Society meeting in the fall of 2002.
