Miami bass - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Miami bass (also known as booty music, a term that may also include other genres) is a type of hip hop music that became popular in the 1980s and 1990s, known for applying the Roland TR-808 sustained kick drum, slightly higher dance tempos, and occasionally sexually explicit lyrical content.
Miami bass has never had consistent mainstream acceptance, but has had a profound impact on the development of drum'n' bass, Southern rap, and other genres of music.
Miami Bass is closely related to the modern genres of Ghettotech and Booty House, genres which combine Detroit techno and Chicago house with the Miami bass sound.

The majority of rap music fans of the West Coast and Southern U.S. discovered Miami Bass in its entirety due to the success of the "Throw the D" single and the 2 Live Crew album, thus blazing a path for many other artists to cash in on its formula.
He refers to this style as "Techno Bass," a term either derived from Techmaster P.E.B. 's techniques, or a Dynamix II song of the same name released in 1988 produced with an entirely different motive.
Instead, some glom onto rave culture, proclaiming Miami Bass to live on through their "funky breaks," (such as former Magic Mike partner Beatmaster Wizzy under the new pseudonym Trip Theory) and others are trying to capture chart success by claiming to be part of the "Dirty South" movement of rap.

Springing from the fertile dance scenes in Miami (freestyle) and Detroit (electro) during the mid-'80s, Bass Music brought the funky-breaks aesthetic of the '70s into the digital age with drum-machine frequencies capable of pulverizing the vast majority of unsuspecting car or club speakers.
Bass music even flirted with the charts during the early '90s, as 95 South's "Whoot (There It Is)" and 69 Boyz' "Tootsee Roll" both hit the charts and went multi-platinum.
They were responsible for popularizing the booming, hard-driving sound of Miami bass music, and they were the founding fathers of a populist, dance-oriented rap subgenre that relied on simple, explicit chants and up-tempo rump-shaking grooves, appropriately dubbed "booty rap."

Forever [+] is a typically throttling set from Maggotron [+], the father of Miami bass music.
It doesn't make much sense to talk about this music in terms of "songs" -- this is all about the groove, and Forever [+] delivers an abundance deep funk and hip-hop grooves.
Since bass music doesn't really show much signs of musical innovation, this album sounds no different than Maggotron's other releases but that just means he's reliable, not that he's repetitive.
