MIANWALI, Sept 19: All six state-run colleges in the district are in disarray depicting the step-motherly treatment being meted out to them by the district and provincial education authorities.
The Government Degree College for Boys, Mianwali, which was established at the district headquarters in 1950, lacks almost all facilities with which it was provided.
A similar state of affairs is being seen in the girls’ colleges in Piplan and Mianwali districts.

MIANWALI, Aug 9: Three people met watery grave and thousands others were rendered homeless, divested of valuables, when high tides in the river Indus ravaged village after village in Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan districts during the last 24 hours.
In the former district, a high wave of flood in the Indus with a down-flow capacity of 568,992 cusecs passed through the Jinnah barrage, leaving 38 villages inundated.
In Mianwali tehsil, Watta Khel Kacha, Yarookhel Kacha, Shahbazkhel Kacha, Chak Muhammad Wala, Rokhri Kacha, Chak Dosari, Nuranga, Tarikhel Kacha, Hindalwala, Dhup-Sari, Wattuanwala, Mochh Kacha, Daudkhel Kacha and in Piplan tehsil, Tibba Meherban Shah, Aloowali, Duaaba, Dhingana, Kundian Kacha, Ahmad Shahwali, Mamuwali and Hazara Shomali were the areas in turmoil.

This was an educational trip as next year in the O level classes we will be studying Dams and Barrages very thoroughly.
We left for Mianwali at 5 in the morning.Accompanying us were our Vice principal Mahwash Kazmi,Mohammad Farsa and our class teacher Sultana Khanum.We started via the motorway and turned from the Chakwal interchange.We reached Mianwali in 4 ½ hours after a number of pit stops.
From there we sat off for the Mianwali air base and got an informative and interesting lecture from the officers at the base.From there we sat off for a half hour drive to Chasma.
