Michael auditioned for the part, and even after the creator's initial trepidation about his suitability for the role, won the role of Alex P. Keaton on "Family Ties," the role for which he is still most famous.
Despite Michael's now worldwide appeal, he made it quite clear that he would not 'abandon' "Family Ties." He never forgot what had gotten him to the point he was at and he stated publicly that he would stick with "Family Ties" until the very end, and he lived up to his word.

Michael Medved: I think this is indeed the first movie about Christ since "Last Temptation." As I recall the controversy surrounding that film it centered not on the idea that Jesus had sexual fantasies -- but the depiction of him (or Him) having sex in an alternate reality vision he experienced on the cross.
Michael Medved: I study in Aramaic several times a week, of course, because that is the language of the Talmud and of many prayers in the traditional Jewish liturgy.
The pronunciation of Aramaic in the film is wildly uneven.

Michael Caine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This proved to be paradoxical, as Caine was quickly to become notable for using a regional accent, rather than the Received Pronunciation hitherto considered proper for film actors.
Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s Caine alternated between acclaimed performances in films such as Educating Rita (1983) and Mona Lisa (1986), and unashamedly mercenary roles in notorious duds such as Jaws: The Revenge (as Hoagie Newcombe) (1987) and On Deadly Ground (1994).
He has been Oscar-nominated six times, winning his first Academy Award for the 1986 film, Hannah and Her Sisters, his second in 1999 for The Cider House Rules (film), in both cases as a supporting actor.

Guardian Unlimited Film | Interviews | Michael Moore
Michael, yesterday when I saw the film in the West End, you got a standing ovation.
He's got the best line in the film; he says, "The pen is mightier than the sword, but it's always as well to have a sword handy." You couldn't write that up in a comedy, coming from a redneck guy who grows organic food, which I thought was quite ironic.
AC: Well, the film identifies the problem and you imagine going in that the problem is guns, but halfway through the film it's not the guns but the climate of fear that causes the problem.

 Michael Nyman - film composer
Michael Nyman followed a traditional music education at the Royal Academy of Music and King's College London.
The music for these Peter Greenaway films was played by the Nyman Band, whose distinctive sound hinted at Jazz with its prominent Saxophones, but took short phrases and chord sequences mostly from the Baroque and Classical eras, and delivered these with gusto whilst repeating and varying sections using alterations in instrumentation and colour.
Michael Nyman has been known to introduce himself to a French audience as "The English Yann Tiersen" so if you like Nyman's music you might wish to sample some by Tiersen (or vice versa).

I said of that album, "On the strength of this one release, Michael Giacchino should go from being a virtual unknown to taking a major step to becoming one of the very top film composers of the next few decades." This new follow-up album of his, Medal of Honour, Underground confirms my opinion.
Once again I was impressed with the apparent ease that Giacchino tackles a broad, very detailed canvass for an action film creating a sound world that grips and holds the imagination with effects that imaginatively avoid the usual traps of the genre.
Michael Ciacchino has created a theme for her that in its first few notes irresistibly makes me want to anticipate the old pop song, 'Arrivederci Roma' which I found disconcerting because she is French and so much of the action, particularly at the beginning and end, takes place in Paris.

Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" may be popular with critics, it may have received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, it may be popular with the Hollywood elite, but theater owners are showing caution about the overtly political film.
"Michael Moore has made it clear that this film is nothing more than an attempt to undermine support for the war on terrorism, and movie theater operators have made it clear they wish to have no part in Moore's anti-military propaganda," said Howard Kaloogian, chairman of Move America Forward.
Moore cut Kennedy’s response from the film and instead packaged the segment to suggest that Kennedy and other Members of Congress were unwilling to have their own family members serve in the war on terrorism, according to the congressman.

 Michael Kamen - film composer
Michael Kamen has written for both the big and the small screen, and he has also composed scores for opera and ballet companies.
And on "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" he was able to span the divide between character and action movies with a classical score moving between delicate chamber scoring with harpsichord, through to full-scale classical use of the orchestra, tied together with the Baron's main circus-like showman theme.

Miramax had funded the film but Disney, which owns the art-house studio, had declined to distribute the movie, saying the documentary and its criticism of President Bush's war on Iraq were too politically charged.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — In an unused interview shot in Virginia for Michael Moore's latest film, the American who was beheaded in Iraq said he was concerned about security there as he prepared to seek work as an independent businessman, his family said Saturday.
Moore confirmed Thursday that he had footage of Berg — shot for his film Fahrenheit 9/11, which is critical of President Bush — but said he would share it only with the family.
Fahrenheit 9/11, which recently won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, accuses the Bush administration of stealing the 2000 election, overlooking terrorism warnings before Sept. 11, 2001, and fanning fears of more attacks to secure American support for the Iraq war.
