Colvin, who was joined on a conference call by his agent, Kennard McGuire, confirmed that the operation, performed at Massachusetts General Hospital, began as an exploratory procedure and progressed once doctors discovered the fracture.
Colvin said he was uncertain whether he suffered a subluxation of the left hip (partial, temporary joint dislocation), the injury that ended Bo Jackson's career and reports of which incited more than a week of speculation and panic among Patriots fans.
Colvin said he had not been given an exact timetable as to when he would be able to resume football-related activity.

With regard to the alleged 8(a)(3) and (1) violation, it is incumbent on the General Counsel to prove, as an element of his case, that James Michael Colvin engaged in protected activity prior to time that Respondent requested his removal from the jobsite and that Respondent was, by that time, aware of such activity.
Given the fact that the record strongly suggests Colvin was not at that meeting, I conclude that McCorkle’s testimony was calculated to support the Charging Party’s allegations, even when he either did not recall the facts to which he was testifying, or knew or suspected that his testimony was inaccurate.

The pioneering spirit that brought Colvin to serve as one of the first professors at the newest UC campus also is reflected in the emerging discipline he has chosen as the focus for his research.
This change, combined with recent improvements in computer technology, has created the relatively new field of computational biology.  "The computer sitting on my desk is a thousand times more powerful than the supercomputers I used as a graduate student 20 years ago," he says.  "The difference in what we can accomplish is amazing."
He received a Ph.D. in computational chemistry from UC Berkeley and began working in basic chemical physics at the Livermore lab immediately afterward.  However, he continued to be drawn closer to his father's field of cancer research, and when a job in computational biology opened up at Sandia National Lab, Colvin jumped at the chance.

One might be drawn to conclude that the various branches of the Colvins were in conflict over some issue in their distance past, now forever lost with the passage of time.
After several years of pondering the meaning of the Colvin motto and refusing to take sides with either the "remembering" or "forgetting" Colvins, I have finally decided to adopt "Obliviscar" as the motto I will depict on the coat of arms on this site.
Having arrived at that stage in life where "senior moments" are likely to become more commonplace, my motto is merely an admission of what will someday be very obvious in the past tense.
