The Sunday Herald revealed last week that Falkirk East MP Michael Connarty had written to the chief executive of BP, John Browne, expressing concerns that the director of the petrochemical complex, Colin Maclean, was a 'BP hit man' who should be sacked for being 'a danger to Grangemouth'.
Connarty said two thirds of the health and safety team were among those facing the cull.

A group of MPs has added their support to the fight to save the Newspaper Registration Service, and are calling on the Government to intervene.
Michael Connarty, Labour MP for Falkirk East, has tabled an Early Day Motion highlighting the concern over Royal Mail's plans to end the service, which allows newspapers to be sent by post at a specially reduced rate.
The parliamentary petition calls on the Government to "show its commitment to such a valuable communications service" and makes it clear to Royal Mail that the service should not be sacrificed.
