  Powells.com Interviews - Helen Fielding
And, hey, Fielding's narrator works for a publishing company so there's lots of talk about books in Bridget Jones's Diary, and she borrowed the plot from Jane Austen (no word yet on when she'll be giving it back), so there's your highbrow literary connection right there.
Fielding: fuckwittage [she pronounces it to rhyme with fromage], it's from the French.
Fielding: Well, sometimes I write travelogues for Conde Nast, and I wrote a piece for the Telegraph about the tour, which was me instead of Bridget.

 Rogue partner - 28 November 2005
Fielding wrote that he, "could not face the shame of all this, or indeed the immediate pressures" the disclosure would cause, and added he was "extremely concerned to protect my family", and so had decided to go abroad for some time.
Fielding bought property in the US and also owned a luxury apartment in Regent's Park - city accommodation so spectacularly opulent that prosecuting lawyers took photographs of it to illustrate in court their claims of his lavish lifestyle.
Court documents obtained by The Lawyer state that Fielding was able to appropriate funds by using his ability as a partner to sign requests for payments, and hoodwinked his partners into countersigning these requests when there were particularly large amounts involved that might have aroused their suspicions.

Michael Fielding (born 1978) is a British comedian/actor, most famous for his part as Naboo, the zoo's frog-squeezing shaman on The Mighty Boosh, co-written and co-starring his older brother, Noel Fielding.
Michael's non-acting non-style gives the television series a distinctive feel of cynical indolence and many members of his family consider him to be a driving force behind the success of the show.
It's said that "The Mighty Boosh" was named after one of Michael's haircuts.

DVD Times - The Mighty Boosh : Series One   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
For whilst he and comic partner Noel Fielding (who played a smaller role for Morris) has established a minor cult with their TV series, The Mighty Boosh, it has only appeared on minority channel BBC3 before receiving a belated, unannounced and slightly trimmed evening showing on BBC2.
Certainly, there are flaws to be had — Fielding, for example, is clearly a weaker performer than Barratt (hence the smaller role in Nathan Barley?) — but if you’re in the mood for a bit of odd humour, some silliness and a few song and dance numbers, then The Mighty Boosh should prove satisfactory.
But unless Noel Fielding has greatly improved in the period between series one and two, I can't agree with Anthony's comment that he's "clearly a weaker performer than Barratt".
