The car chase is one of the greatest ever filmed through the streets and tunnels and highways of Paris as she drives in the wrong lanes.
It is a coda almost like that in "Heat" in which Al Pacino holds Robert de Niro's hand as de Niro dies from Pacino's gunshots, a silent camaraderie and indeed that is what this movie is really about, trust and strangers.
Michael Lonsdale, who was superb as the detective in "The Day of The Jackal," was the villain the James Bond film "Moonraker," Jonathan Pryce was the villain in the James Bond film "Tomorrow Never Dies," and Sean Bean played 006 in the James bond movie, "Goldeneye."

The first talk was by Michael Farr, author of 'Tintin The Complete Companion', as he went through some slides mainly reflecting the content of his excellent book, that is Hergé's research sources, but he had many interesting notes to add.
Michael Turner looks very much as though he could quite easily become one of Hergé's mad professor characters, but they are both lovely and approachable people.
The last item on the day's agenda was the UK premiere showing of the documentary 'Tintin et Moi', which I was very much looking forward to, but while that was being set up there was a bit of a disorganised jumble to get autographs from the participants of the day's unique gathering.

Munich - Critics Review - My Way Movies
Louis and Papa (Michael Lonsdale) add welcome intrigue to Spielberg's balancing act, testing Avner's allegiance and giving us a peek inside the world of international espionage, where Black September might work for the CIA, and loyalty is not always what it seems.
Lonsdale gives a marvelous performance as Papa, the only character Kushner wrote gray.
He's shady by profession, but wise, warm and fiercely protective of his family, and his moral compromise - as an equal opportunist, he may be willing to sell information on Avner to the Palestinians - is more substantive than any other in the film.

Lonsdale describes the 47 Ronin miniatures to DeNiro by talking about the need to serve something outside of one's self, a man without a master.

The plot concerns supervillain Drax (Michael Lonsdale) and his attempt to destroy mankind and start his own master race in outer space.
Although I prefer the usual Bond commentary formula that cobbles together the track from interviews with a variety of participants, this screen-specific piece - for which all of the speakers were recorded at the same time - offers a refreshingly frank and fun view of the movie.

Not as on-the-nose as most of the rest of the flabby script by playwright Tony Kushner and Eric Roth, these scenes are conspicuously well written and acted by Amalric and Lonsdale and exist on a level only approached again by a scene involving an exceedingly fetching girl (Marie-Josee Croze) in a hotel bar.
Interludes echo the theme of French duplicity in such matters that were central to Hitchcock's "Topaz," and also remind that very little goes down in the Middle East without the French being involved behind the scenes, a point "Syriana" is remiss to ignore.

Whilst virtually eclipsed by Auteuil, Josiane Balasko makes a solid contribution as the film's unwitting Faust character, relying on her dowdy and somewhat vulgar screen persona which she seems unable to break away from.
Casting Michael Lonsdale as the Archangel Gabriel is a stroke of genius; his godfather-like portrayal of the Heavenly emissary is probably the best thing about this film, particularly the scenes where he is on the phone talking anxiously to his paymaster.

Zinnemann's technique emphasizes the details of how the cold-blooded contract killer will complete the job and eschews the politics, keeping the action restrained and building in tension to the concluding assassination attempt.
The casting coups include the suave British actor Edward Fox as the aristocratic, cunning and inconspicuous Jackal and Michael Lonsdale as the sympathetic clever honest cop who is doggedly on the killer's trail.
