  Michael Martin
Martin argues that a theistic ontological foundation of morality is impossible, that moral realism is possible in a godless universe, that theistic morality is subject to the accusation of arbitrariness whereas naturalistic moral relaism is not, and that human beings are not "special" in the sense intended by theists.
Martin contends not only that there are serious problems with the Christian concept of Heaven, but also that although belief in Heaven may sometimes be liberating, it has more often been politically and socially repressive, hindering social change and making people complacent about poverty, political oppression, and injustice.
Michael Martin has argued that, when closely evaluated, the concept of Heaven as historically construed by Christians is found to be a veritable mare's nest of philosophical difficulties and confusions.

Criticisms of Theism Atheists justify their philosophical position in several different ways.
Negative atheists attempt to establish their position by refuting typical theist arguments for the existence of God, such as the argument from first cause, the argument from design, the ontological argument, and the argument from religious experience (see Theism: Arguments for Theism).
According to atheists, the available evidence to support these alleged miracles—from Biblical, pagan, and Jewish sources—is weak, and therefore such claims should be rejected.

 On Jesus
True, while philosophers like Epicurus, Epictetus, Musonius, and Seneca, are known to have had that capacity, they tended to compound their outlook by employing system-building techniques which often (but not always) appeared complex to the general public.
In fact, Groothuis writes, the twentieth century German philosopher Friedrich Nietsche employed methods of philosophizing that were comparable to Jesus’ technique by way of parables, stories, and aphorisms: methods all deemed to have philosophizing value in the eyes of "nearly everyone" (pg.
Unlike other great philosophers who spent many years formulating their system-building ideas, Jesus’ career as a philosopher lasted about three years and His impact as an influential thinker given that short time period is unsurpassed.
