	SPACE.com -- NASA's O'Keefe Vows to Follow Columbia Investigation Recommendations
		Though OKeefe had yet to read the lengthy report from cover to cover -- thats on tap, he said, for the long Labor Day weekend ahead -- the Boards hard hitting assessment of the role NASAs organizational culture played in the Feb.1 space shuttle accident hit home.
		OKeefe also made clear that he is unlikely to ask anyone else to "ship out" as a result of his or her role in the accident.
		OKeefe gave no clear indication of when NASA expects the shuttle fleet to resume service and pointedly declined to reaffirm the March 2004 target set before the reports release.

		OKeefe said the IPCC summaries, in particular, were essentially politically brokered so they failed to show the tremendous uncertainties behind projections of future climate change.
		The models on which the projections were based suffer from a lack of good data from previous years coming in and poor simulation of actual climatic conditions, he said.

		A former math teacher at Lee County High School was released on $15,000 bond Wednesday pending a trial on federal charges of distributing child pornography on the Internet.
		Michael OKeefe, 37, who also taught at Darton College, was accused by a federal grand jury of producing child porn and putting it on Web sites.
		OKeefes lawyer, Pete Donaldson, said he was innocent.

		Thomson's introduction to the cable industry is a Connections story: In 1854, Astronomer Royal George Airy, hoping to use the new cross-Channel cables to synchronize astronomical observations between London and Paris, but discouraged by the fuzzy signals through the cables, asked telegraph engineer Latimer Clark to investigate the problem.
		Clark invited Michael Faraday to visit the cable works and observe experiments in transmitting signals through underwater cables.
		Faraday determined qualitatively that the cable was acting like a Leyden jar, storing electrical charge because of the proximity of the water to the insulated conductor and published a paper on the subject, but did not develope a rigorous theory.
