When it came to the switch between Michael Praed and Jason Connery, it was decided not to have a regeneration scene because of Doctor Who's unique portrayal of this method of cast-changing.
There was also the choice of closing down the production until such time as Michael Praed may or may not become available again, but the decision was eventually taken to kill off Praed's Robin in the last episode of season two.

Michael Praed is quite proud of himself, for reasons only a parent would understand.
Praed plays no less than Phileas Fogg, who in this secret history is not only the man who will eventually travel around the world in 80 days, but a real-life character who`s quite a bit more.
Praed is taking on a number of roles for various independent movies at the moment, but is hoping he gets the call for a second season.

And Michael Praed was the BEST in this role - not some weenie in a stupid feather cap, wearing Hollywood bright green, with 100's of followers somehow living in grandeur in a city in the forest.
Micheal Praed's hair and the music soundtrack (provided for the most part by Clannad) are really the telltale signs of its age.
Evidently Michael Praed was offered a chance at the big time, so he bailed out, and Jason Connery (son of you-know-who, who had played an old Robin Hood opposite Audrey Hepburn) replaced him.

Michael was quite young when he played Robin in Robin of Sherwood (which aired in the states simply as Robin Hood).
Michael was replaced by Jason Connery (yes, Sean's son), but I must say, I prefer Michael's Robin.
However, one thing I do greatly respect the creators for, is that they did not simply pretend nothing had happened when all of a sudden Robin went from dark to blond.

To make matters more interesting Constance's old flame Bernard Kersal (played by Michael Praed from ‘Robin of Sherwood’ fame) returns after 15 years away and professes his undying love for her.
The Constant Wife was written by William Somerset Maugham in the 1920’s and although the period is firmly established in costume and speech, the essence of the story and characters attitudes are well ahead of their time.

"Robin of Sherwood" (1984)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Trivia: Following the departure of Michael Praed as Robin, both Neil Morrisey and Paul McGann were considered as replacements before the producers settled on Jason Connery.
The show ran for about 4 seasons I think, the first two featured Michael Praed as Robin of Loxley, and the last two featured his successor, Robert of Huntington, played by Jason Connery (Sean's son; Sean also played Robin Hood in case you didn't know, in "Robin and Marion" opposite Audrey Hepburn's Maid Marion).
But both Michael and Jason's characters become known as Robin Hood and/or the Hooded Man. I was surprised to read in the archives of reviews that many people prefer Jason over Michael, since people often get more attached to the first guy (maybe it's name recognition).
