	Surprise reduction of Corporate Tax Rate
		In his budget presentation before the national assembly today, finance minister Trevor Manuel announced that corporate tax would be reduced from 30 to 29% from April 1 this year in a bid to lure the inflow of foreign direct investment.
		According to the minister, the tax rate of South African branches and agencies of foreign companies will be reduced from 35% to 34% effective from the beginning of April this year.
		Sabatino said it is interesting to note that the reduction in the corporate tax rate will reduce the effective capital gains tax rate (“CGT”) accordingly in that South African resident companies will be subject to CGT at an effective rate of 14,5%.

		Crystal's publicist JUST called me five minutes ago with the happy news that Crystal delivered Dylan Michael Sabatino early this morning, 9/2/03, via Caesarean section because he was breech and didn't want to wait to turn around to be born. He came into the world at 7 lbs.
		7 oz and 20 inches long. He, according to Leslie (Crystal's publicist), is absolutely beautiful and looks just like Michael. She reports that everyone is doing well and Crystal should be home by Friday or Saturday. Crystal was to be at work today but Dylan had other ideas, obviously!!!
		I'm glad they did a C-section for her, breech babies can be dangerous to try to deliver traditionally.
